AirExpo 2002 at Moffett Field

Airshow Networks presented the Moffett Field AirExpo 2002 on July 27-28. DART personnel provided Water Rescue, Emergency Medical support and Hazardous Materials Response capabilities. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated and staffed by Fire, Protective Services, Logistics, Safety, DART, Airfield Operations and other personnel. Army Explosives Ordnance Disposal and 129th Air National Guard personnel also staffed the EOC . . . a true Joint Command.

The Pyrotechnics Explosion

A part of the air show calls for a USAF A-10 aircraft to do a simulated attack run against enemy ground troops with pyrotechnics explosions simulating live fire. Unfortunately, the explosions were a little bigger than expected on Saturday this year. The concussion from the explosion and flames broke some 80+ windows at Moffett Field and the neighboring community.

Here are a couple of pictures from the 2001 AirExpo to show you what the explosion was like.
