DART Emergency Services Exercise
Spring 2002

Retirement Party HazMat Exercise

This exercise simulated a hazardous materials incident at a retirement party. There were approximately 20 victims. The party included a piñata that was breached early in the party. The piñata was contaminated with simulated toxic biological agents. Shortly after the piñata was breached, several balloons began to burst. The balloons had a simulated nerve gas. The intent of the exercise was to test our HazMat response capabilities, medical triage and patient care, and our ability to manage a joint command.
